John Collins is recognized as one of the nation's leading ESI data mapping consultants. Mr. Collins has conducted over 15 data mapping projects over the past two years, for a wide range for Fortune 500 companies and other organizations.
Mr. Collins has been a speaker at a number of legal and ARMA events throughout the United States, including events in the following cities: Boston; Chicago; Minneapolis; Los Angeles; New York; Atlanta.
Mr. Collins brings a rich and unique blend of legal and technical experience to his clients. Mr. Collins is a "world-class-translator," possessing the ability to take complex Information Technology concepts and subjects and make them understandable to the non-technical. This translation skill enables Mr. Collins to create defensible, understandable, and valuable ESI data maps for organizations of all types and sizes.
Prior to founding The Ingersoll Firm, Mr. Collins was a Discovery Consultant and Director of Legal Education for a national litigation support services company. As a Discovery Consultant, Mr. Collins helped organizations develop cost effective and defensible approaches to the identification, preservation, collection, processing, and review of electronically stored information (ESI). As the Director of Legal Education, Mr. Collins presented CLE programs to hundreds of attorneys throughout the United States, and developed a unique series of “technology fundamentals” seminars designed to teach attorneys the nuts and bolts of technologies pertinent to electronic discovery.
Mr. Collins was with Thomson-West from 1996 to 2003, in a variety of technology related positions, and from 2001 to 2003 held the position of Midwest Division Technology Manager. In this role, Mr. Collins lead a team of Technology Consultants providing technology integration and consulting services to law firms throughout the Midwest. Mr. Collins developed expertise in intranet, portal, and extranet technologies. In 2002, Mr. Collins was selected the Midwest Division’s “Product Champion” for WestKM®, and helped launch this knowledge management platform to the national legal market.
Mr. Collins is a member of the The Association of Records Managers and Administrators, Inc. (ARMA), E-discovery Advisory Group, and has experience in the document and records management arena, having worked closely with AMLAW 250 law firms to implement document management and records management platforms. In addition, Mr. Collins completed an externship in the records department of a 650 attorney law firm in Chicago, thus gaining valuable experience and understanding of a fundamental area of concern for electronic discovery.
